Summer means having days dedicated to reading non-stop. Our team has curated a selection of top picks guaranteed to entertain and inspire. From delightful novels to thought-provoking cultural reads, there’s something here for every reader.

Chiara, espressOh Founder

Yellow Face – I am probably late on this one and I wanted to read it to see why everyone talked about it. I did not like it, I am not into surreal psycho stories but more into romances, I found it a bit childish overall.

Stay True – it’s a memoir and it’s about friendship and life and death, it’s not a very light reading but overall an easy one if you like memoirs.

Blue Sisters – I enjoyed Cleopatra and Frankestein so I bought this one as soon as it came out, it’s a good summer read I would say. I enjoyed it! But not as goos as  C&F.

Women, Race, & Class by Angela Davis — As a non-fiction enthusiast, Angela Davis always leaves me feeling smarter and ready to advocate for social change.

Gastronativism by Fabio Parasecoli — Living in Italy, I’m fascinated by the connection between food and community, making this book perfect for diving deeper into local and regional ingredients.

Eyeliner: A Cultural History by Zahra Hankir — I heard about this book on a podcast and am eager to explore the historical and cultural significance of makeup, particularly eyeliner.

Giada, Social Media Manager

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus – Set in the 60s, this book follows Elizabeth Zott, a feminist and brilliant chemist who gets her own cooking show while facing sexism and misogyny. It’s an inspiring and powerful story, making it one of my top reads of 2024 and a perfect beach book.

Le Spietate by Claudia Cravens – e spietate is the western i never knew i could like! In 1877, sixteen-year-old orphan Bridget arrives in Dodge City and starts working at the Buffalo Queen, a brothel run by women. The book is packed with adventure, loyalty, desire, revenge, and queer love.

I baffi by Emanuele Carrère – Imagine waking up with your mustache shaved off, but nobody notices. I’m currently reading this funny yet creepy novel by one of my favorite authors and can’t wait to see how it ends.

Diana Zabrini, Brand Marketing Manager

The Guest by Emma Cline – I’m hooked on this novel about Alex, a young woman dating a wealthy older man who invites her to stay in Long Island. After a mishap at a dinner party, he ends their relationship, but Alex decides to stay, moving between places on the island. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Coventry by Rachel Cusk – This collection of literary and cultural essays explores themes like family dynamics and gender issues. Recommended by my mum, it’s titled after the British expression ‘to be sent to Coventry,’ meaning to be given the silent treatment.

Federica, Marketing Specialist

L’anomalia by Hervé Le Tellier – The perfect beach read: engaging and weaving together stories of passengers caught in a time paradox. The same plane lands three months later with identical passengers, sparking investigations and a hunt for their duplicates. It’s fascinating to see their lives change drastically in just three months.

In Patagonia by Bruce Chatwin – Patagonia has always been a dream destination of mine. Chatwin’s vivid descriptions and captivating storytelling transport you to its remote, wild landscapes. It’s perfect for travel and adventure enthusiasts and has fueled my desire to explore Chile and Argentina.

Le intermittenze della morte by José Saramago – Imagine if people suddenly stopped dying. Surprisingly, it wouldn’t be a beautiful surprise. Saramago’s blend of social issues and individual feelings captivates me, revealing unforeseen consequences of immortality
